About Us

Welcome to the Church of Christ at Cheap Hill

The Church of Christ at Cheap Hill
is a Family that welcomes and values all who come our way.

Worship is Biblical

Churches of Christ are autonomous so each congregation determines their own routines within the guidelines of Scripture.

  • Although we will use other scripture-based materials for study, the Bible is the only inspired Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16-17) Therefore, it is the final answer for all issues.
  • Each Sunday service will incorporate congregational singing, prayer, Bible-based lessons and communion.
    • At Cheap Hill we love to sing and there are no instruments other than our voices. Everyone is encouraged to sing out!
      • Remember the Lord made your voice and it is always beautiful to him.
    • Communion (the Lord's Supper) is a time set aside for Christians to remember the enormous sacrifice Jesus made to enable our salvation.
      • Instituted by Jesus the night before his crucifixion (Luke 22:19-21), it consists of
        • unleavened bread which represents the body of Jesus and
        • "fruit of the vine" (grape juice) which represents the blood of Jesus.
      • These implements will be brought to each pew; if you choose not to participate simply pass the tray to the next person.
    • Apart from Communion, there is a time set aside for offerings. This is completely voluntary and is not required of you.

Dress Code

Come as you are! Although we expect modest dress, there is no dress code. You will see suits & ties as well as jeans & t-shirts. The main thing is that you are here!

We are not perfect and do not expect it of you! However, with the Lord's guidance and support from each other we are trying to become more like Him every day. That is the key to being a Christian! We have varied backgrounds and do not all hold the same level of understanding or spiritual growth. So, we are all learning and growing together! Jesus demonstrated how very much He loves us; now we return that love by telling and showing others about this amazing Savior!

Background of the Cheap Hill Name

Finally ... "Cheap Hill" ... Really?! Yep! Cheatham Dam Road, across from our building, is a very steep road which will take you down to the river and dam. Years ago the river was used more for business than pleasure as it is today. The river barge and boat travelers knew that to stop in our area meant they could purchase needed merchandise cheaper than if they went on upriver toward Nashville. So, our area became known as Cheap Hill. Not too long ago one of our kids said it would sound better if we changed it to "Thrifty Mountain" but we are who we are!
